An overview of what to expect when migrating from Typical Manager 2024 to 2024.1, and where to find the details for each topic.
This article gives you a short overview of the migration from Typical Manager 2024 to 2024.1. Please read it first, then continue with the other articles in this folder for the full details.
What changes in this migration:
- Relationship Attributes with a Source Attribute behave differently. From Typical Manager 5.2 onwards, the Source Attribute's actual value is used and displayed directly. The separate "Relationship-value" no longer exists. See Article 2.2 for a detailed explanation and what happens to your existing data during the update.
- The list of supported SQL Server versions has changed. Typical Manager 2024.1 supports Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and 2022. See Article 2.3 for the reasons to upgrade and what to do if you are on an older version.
- A new database optimization status is available in the Control Center. You can now see at a glance whether your database settings match our recommendations, and apply them with a single action. See Article 2.4.
Impact on your existing data Yellax aims to keep new versions as familiar as possible. For this migration, the main thing to be aware of is the change in Relationship Attribute behaviour. The update procedure automatically copies your Relationship-values into the Source Attribute, so end-users should not see any change in displayed values after the migration.
Before you start
- Confirm that your SQL Server version is still supported (SQL Server 2019 or 2022).
- Read Article 2.2 carefully if you use Attribute Relationships with a Source Attribute.
- Make sure you have a recent backup of your Typical Manager database before you begin.
