Typical Manager 2024 introduced a new column in the Control Center that tells you whether your database settings match our recommended optimizations, plus a one-click way to apply them. This article explains how to use it.
For optimal functioning of Typical Manager, your database needs to be configured in line with our recommendations. To make this easier to check and maintain, we introduced a dedicated feature in the Typical Manager Control Center.
The new column in the database overview
In the database overview within the Typical Manager Control Center, you will see a column that indicates whether your current database settings align with the recommended optimizations. This gives you an instant visual check of each of your databases.
Applying the recommended optimizations
To simplify the configuration process, a new option has been added to the right-click menu in the database overview:
- Database options → Optimize database
Selecting this option configures your database settings to match our recommendations, so you don't need to apply each setting manually.
Why this is useful
- Performance: Optimized databases run queries and load data faster.
- Predictability and consistency: When every database follows the same recommended settings, behaviour across environments is more consistent.
- Reliability: Following our recommended settings reduces the risk of configuration-related issues.
Recommended workflow
- Open the Typical Manager Control Center.
- Review the new status column in the database overview.
- For any database that is not yet optimized, right-click and choose Database options → Optimize database.
- Verify that the status column now indicates the database is optimized.
