An overview of what to expect when migrating from Typical Manager 2025 to 2026. This is a bigger step than previous migrations, so please read this article first and then continue with the other articles in this folder.
The migration from Typical Manager 2025 to 2026 is more significant than the previous migrations. Typical Manager 2026 moves to the .NET 8 platform, which has a ripple effect on the environment around Typical Manager — in particular on the supported AutoCAD Electrical versions and the supported SQL Server version.
What changes in this migration:
- Minimum source version requirement. Migration to Typical Manager 2026 is only supported from Typical Manager 2025 version 5.4.2517.0 or newer. If you are on an older 2025 build, you must first update your 2025 installation. See Article.
- New platform: .NET 8. Typical Manager 2026 is built on .NET 8, so your target environment must support .NET 8. See Article.
- Supported AutoCAD Electrical versions have changed. Typical Manager 2026 supports AutoCAD Electrical 2025 and 2026 only. AutoCAD 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2024 are no longer supported. See Article.
- Supported SQL Server version has changed. Typical Manager 2026 supports Microsoft SQL Server 2022 and 2025. See Article.
- New performance option. A new Attribute Scope Count option is available that can improve performance. See Article.
Impact on your existing data Yellax aims to keep new versions as familiar as possible. The main effort for this migration is not in Typical Manager itself, but in preparing your environment: .NET 8, SQL Server 2025, and a supported AutoCAD Electrical version.
Before you start
- Confirm that your Typical Manager 2025 version is 5.4.2517.0 or newer.
- Confirm that your target environment supports .NET 8.
- Confirm that you are running a supported AutoCAD Electrical version (2025 or 2026).
- Confirm that your SQL Server version is Microsoft SQL Server 2022 or 2025.
- Make sure you have a recent backup of your Typical Manager database before you begin.
